Last month, Tom Grennan wowed fans at his biggest headline gig at Gunnersbury Park, and released his version of the Gillette theme tune. Now, Tom has released his latest song 'Higher', which he has been teasing for some time.

Tom's latest song is from his upcoming fourth album, and is an upbeat track. And the singer has shared several videos on his socials which has had a great reaction from fans so far.

Tom has now released the lyric video featuring him wearing a black suit, lying on bed covered in gold and cream cushions.

Speaking about his new music, Tom said: “So much of the new music is uplifting — it makes you dance, makes you sing — but for me there’s also the excitement of it being a sound I've never explored."

He went on to talk about the writing process, explaining: "The weird thing about me is that I make music in the studio but most of my good ideas come to me when I'm not actually in the studio.

"On the day we wrote 'Higher' I’d left the room but I just couldn’t get that riff out of my head. It turned into a melody, which turned into a phrase… I ran back into the studio, with the piano riff still playing, threw my hands up and sang: ‘It's taking me higher.’ Everyone in the room just went: ‘Boom. That’s it.’"

In the run up to the song's release, Tom shared several videos which showed him in the busy streets of New York, singing a clip from his new song.

This followed a previous video he posted from a New York rooftop, featuring three Tom Grennans, with the caption: 'Don’t know where we’re going but I’m comfortable ☝️ #Higher'.

One fan wrote: 'Number 1 incoming. Deserves nothing less.', with another saying: 'Can't wait for this song to be released🙌😍So excited🔥🔥💚'.

A third fan commented: 'Loving the sound of this'.

These videos follow Tom's initial announcement back in August, when he told fans he was going to release new music soon, before performing his new song on stage.

It hit me hard watching him comprehend what had happened, trying to compute the madness and sadness of his new world now that his mum whom he loved so dearly had passed.
"It triggered memories for me of the loss of my cousin and best friend Alan when I was just a teenager, it broke so many of us. The song unravelled from me quite quickly. It was cathartic on many levels, thoughts of loss and heartbreak, dealing with the grief of death, or the breakdown of a relationship or friendship.
"These are all things that seem to have dominated my life in recent years, but sadly never get any easier to navigate. I'm grateful that the passing of time allows us to look back and remember the good times."
