Many fans think the song is about her ex Justin Bieber
Last updated 24th Oct 2019
She's one of the biggest pop stars in the world, so it's no surprise that Selena Gomez's emotional new single 'Lose You To Love Me', which is reportedly about her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, has been very popular.
The music video, which Selena revealed was shot using an iPhone 11, has gained over 24 million views (at the time of publication) on YouTube since it's release on Wednesday 23rd October, with fans all over the world expressing their love for the track.
The black and white video, which was directed by Sophie Muller, shows the former Disney star sitting alone and she sings the powerful lyrics into the camera. As the video goes on, Selena becomes increasingly more emotional, as she goes between sad, angry and content towards the end of the video.
Following the release of the beautiful song, many fans believed the track to be her 'Goodbye' to her teenage boyfriend Justin Bieber, who of course recently married model Hailey Bieber.
As fans speculated online, newly-married Hailey posted a snap on Instagram with the caption 'I'll Kill You', with fans going into overdrive thinking her post was about Selena. Now, after Selena's fans took to Twitter to defend the singer, the 27-year-old has responded to the online abuse Hailey is receiving, urging people to stop being 'disrespectful'.
She said in an Instagram Live video, "I am so grateful for the response of the song. However, I will never stand for women tearing other women down. So please be kind to everyone. Please be kind, I don't like seeing people being disrespectful or rude to other people, so please don't do that."
Speaking to Radio Disney about why she penned the song, Selena said, "I wrote this song over a year ago and it's obviously a very emotional song for me but it's interesting to see how far I've come from that point to now.
"And me sharing my story is exactly what I've always done, because I can't be inauthentic, I can't pretend that I'm not going through something when it's obvious that I had been.
"It's one of those songs where I feel it's out, it's released, and I hope that girls and guys all over the world can feel supported. Because that's a feeling everyone has felt."
