It's been a while since we've had new music from Sam Smith, and now they have just released 'Love Me More'! After announcing the new song last week, Sam has now released the song along with the music video.
The song has been described as, 'a candid introspection of Sam’s relationship with themself on a journey of self-discovery and happiness,' with the music video starting off with some super cute footage from Sam's early years.
The video, which was shot by Luke Monaghan, who has worked on videos for Sam's other songs, 'Too Good At Goodbyes', 'Writing’s On The Wall', was co-directed by Sam and is a story of 'liberation and joy'.
A day after the music video and song were released, the lyric video was also added to YouTube. The lyric video is a simple black screen with the lyrics in bold pink capital letters.
Sam announced their new song would be released by taking to Instagram and posting a black and white photo of themselves, with the caption: 'Love Me More 28th April. 11pm BST/ 3pm PDT Link in bio.'
Within just a few minutes of the photo being shared fans were leaving comments about their excitement at getting some new music. One fan wrote: 'I'm counting the days 💫🤗', with another commenting: 'FINALLY! 👏😍'.
It was way back in 2020, when Sam released 'Diamonds' and their third album 'Love Goes'. The album included their huge collaborations 'Promises' with Calvin Harris, 'Dancing With a Stranger' with Normani and 'I'm Ready' with Demi Lovato.
Then, in 2021, they released 'You Will Be Found' with Summer Walker for a film adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen, originally a Broadway musical.
