Sam Bailey 'Overwhelmed' After X Factor Triumph

Sam Bailey has thanked her fans after storming to victory in The X Factor final last night.
The 36-year-old prison warder triumphed ahead of teenager Nicholas McDonald and belted out her winner’s single – a version of Demi Lovato’s ‘Skyscraper’ to the millions watching around the globe.
She said: "I'm still in shock but all my dreams have come true tonight. I'm overwhelmed by all the support I've received and wish I could thank everyone individually for making this such a special moment for me.
"I love my single and with the proceeds from it going to such great causes, I really couldn't be happier."
Hours later, Sam took to Twitter to heap praise on her fans. Linking to ‘Skyscraper’, Sam wrote: “Thank you to everyone who supported me. I can't believe it! Hope I do you proud with this.”
She added: “I am sat in my hotel room, so overwhelmed… Thank you everyone for there support x I'm so grateful.”

Sam is now clear favourite for the Christmas number one spot this weekend with ‘Skyscraper’.
She faces competition from Lily Allen’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’, Leona Lewis’s ‘One More Sleep’ and the anti-X Factor campaign AC/DC’s rock classic ‘Highway To Hell’.
Sam will support Beyonce on her upcoming spring 2014 UK arena tour.
