An Instagram selfie Rihanna took with an endangered slow loris has led to two arrests in Thailand.

!On a short break from her gruelling Diamonds World Tour, Rihanna stopped off in the Thailand island of Phuket last week where she kept her 30million Twitter and 10million Instagram followers up to date with the tourist attractions.

On Friday, while visiting Bangla Road, Rihanna posted a photo of herself with a slow loris, writing: ‘Look who was talkin dirty to me!’

Native to Southeast Asia, the slow loris is a protected species, however due to its big eyes and tame demeanour touts often peddle the primate to tourists for snaps.

Rihanna’s photo sparked the Thai Government and Phuket police into action and two men have been detained following raids in Bangla Road.

Phuket district chief, Weera Kerdsirimongkon, told Associated Press: "It's like a cat-and-mouse game. But this time it's bigger because a celebrity like Rihanna posted the picture, and there were more than 200,000 'likes' from around the world.

“Phuket authorities were alerted to the picture (of Rihanna), and last night police arrested the two individuals who brought out the loris as a photo opportunity for tourists."

If found guilty of possession of endangered animals, the 20-year-old man and 16-year-old arrested could face up to four years in prison.

Two slow lorises seized will be taken to the national park in Phang Nga.

Rihanna performed at the Singapore Grand Prix concert on Sunday night and is currently continuing her sprawling global tour in Australia.
