Pistol Annies prepare to reload
Country supergroup confirm new material
It has bee a long wait for fans of the Pistol Annies, but new music from the trio is definitely getting closer.
In a recent interview, to Country blog 'The Boot' trio member Angaleena Presley said that the Annies have finished recording their third studio album.
“We just finished our third record," she added.
"Two weeks ago as of July 23, “So we don’t really have a release date, per se, yet, but the record is there.”
On July 18, the trio — comprised of Presley, Miranda Lambert and Ashley Monroe — shared an image of themselves in the recording studio, captioned “Sangin’ some songs #staytuned,” on social media.
The group has not yet revealed the album’s title or further details of the project, but fans have been eager to find out as the three women have dropped hints on social media and in interviews.
“We’ll be going into the studio soon,” Monroe commented back in April. “We’ve been writing, and we’ve written some of my favorite songs I’ve ever written in my life. We went to Miranda’s farm last week and really hunkered down and got some good stuff."
The Pistol Annies have not shared new music since the 2013 release of their sophomore album, Annie Up.
When the trio cancelled all upcoming performances later that year, rumours of a break-up began to emerge. However, all three of the group’s members denied any tension within the band, citing time management and their busy solo careers as the cause of the hiatus.
In 2017, Lambert began hinting at the possibility of new music to come the following year, and signs of new music on the horizon have continued through 2018. Presley and Monroe made surprise appearances at two of Lambert’s Livin’ Like Hippies Tour stops in March, and they joined together for another performance during Lambert and Little Big Town’s 2018 Bandwagon Tour in July. Lambert also teased that she might be working on writing new Annies music in January.
