Pharrell Williams To Perform 'Happy' At The Oscars
Will his infamous hat make an appearance?!
Pharrell Williams will perform his number one smash ‘Happy’ at The Oscars in Los Angeles next month, organisers have confirmed.
Lifted from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, the song will battle it out against U2’s ‘Ordinary Love’ and ‘Let It Go’ from Frozen and ‘The Moon Song’ from Her in the Best Original Song category.
After picking up his nomination last month, Pharrell enthused: "I am so grateful to the Academy, this is such a huge honour and surprise.
“I love animated films, I have since I was a kid, and working with Chris Meledandri, the Illumination team and Universal Pictures was one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had. What can I say… I'm HAPPY!"
Pharrell has won seven Grammy Awards in his career and was named Billboard’s Producer of the decade in 2010.
He lent his silky smooth vocals to the two biggest songs of 2013 – Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ and Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ – and will perform live at the BRITs on Wednesday 19th February.
Hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, the 86th Oscars ceremony takes place on Sunday 2nd March at The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
