One Direction’s New Album Is 'A Shift' In Sound

One Direction songwriter Wayne Hector has given fans an exciting insight into the musical direction of their third album.

With 30 number one singles under his belt, including JLS’s ‘Beat Again’ and Westlife’s ‘Flying Without Wings’, it’s little surprise 1D have joined forces with Hector once again after working with him on their debut ‘Up All Night’.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Hector revealed that 1D’s third record has a “more mature” sound but importantly it’s still playful at heart.

"They've definitely gone for a more mature sound," he said. "It's still fun, but there are some really cool vibes coming from it.

"With this album, there's definitely a shift. I think it'll be really good. Hopefully there will be some good surprises on it. It's coming out at Christmas so we're almost finished on it."

1D’s Louis Tomlinson told reporters at the Where We Are Tour press conference that the ‘Take Me Home’ follow-up will have a “rockier and edgy tone” to it.

The band’s label are keeping details of the album firmly under wraps, however we do know that Ed Sheeran definitely isn’t involved as he’s concentrating on his second record.

Producer Julian Burnetta has revealed he’s on board having worked with the lads on their Comic Relief single ‘One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)’.
