Neon Jungle: 'We Want To Equal The Spice Girls' Success'

The hottest new girl band speak about their big ambitions

Fresh from storming the charts with ‘Trouble’ earlier this year, Neon Jungle have revealed they have HUGE ambitions for their music career!

Amira, Shereen, Asami and Jess unleash their awesome dance anthem Braveheart’ in January with their debut album following later in the year, and the girls say they’re aiming high.

“We aspire to the success of The Spice Girls,” 16-year-old Amira McCarthy tells Music Week. “Not to say that we want to be them – but the scale, the way they took over the world in terms of music, everyone they reached.”

Explaining that Neon Jungle are far removed from many squeaky clean pop acts, Amira added: “We carry ourselves a lot on the fact that we’re very raw and uncut and not polished.

“We don’t want the product to end up this boring thing that has no sense of being or character. We are what we are.”

Amira reckons this eclecticism and uniqueness will carry through into Neon Jungle’s eagerly-anticipated debut album. “We want the album to kind of have a flavour of diversity,” she says.

Over the past few months Neon Jungle have toured with Jessie J, had ‘Trouble’ featured on Dancing With The Stars, been working in the studio with Anita Blay (aka CocknBullKid) and more recently recorded an historic performance for Victoria’s Secret fashion show in New York.

Brushing shoulders with fellow guests Taylor Swift and Fall Out Boy, Neon Jungle’s Victoria’s Secret performance airs to 10million people in the US tomorrow night!

Neon Jungle play Radio City Live on Wednesday (11th December), Key 103 Live on Thursday (12th Dec) and Clyde 1 Live on Friday (13th Dec).

The ‘Braveheart’ video premieres later this week and is then available to download from Sunday 14th January 2014.
