Little Mix: 'It's Hard To Compete With One Direction'

They're disappointed DNA didn't reach no.1

Little Mix say they’re disappointed their previous single ‘DNA’ didn’t reach number one last year but admit it’s hard to compete with the all-conquering One Direction.

Although the girls’ song sold strongly upon its release in November it lost out in the chart race to 1D’s ballad ‘Little Things’ with Bruno Mars’ huge single ‘Locked Out Of Heaven’ also entering at number two.

On the week Little Mix’s brilliant new single ‘Change Your Life’ is released, Jade Thirlwall told Digital Spy:

"We were kind of disappointed ('DNA' didn't reach number one) because it sold really well.

"I think it was just the timing because One Direction at the time shot straight to number one with 'Little Things' - it's always hard to compete with the 1D lads. And we're chuffed to bits for them; we've always been supportive of them.

"We were really happy with the sales but a little bit disheartened just because we worked so hard on that song. It is one of our favourites on the album and we kind of thought as well that 'Wings' was amazing and that was on the same level if not better.

"At the end of the day getting number one isn't always everything. It's more how you sell it over the weeks, isn't it?"

Available to download right now, ‘Change Your Life’ is facing stiff competition in this week’s chart race from Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Emeli Sande, Disclosure, Macklemore and will.iam.
