It wouldn't be Christmas without LadBaby (Mark and Roxanne Hoyle) and this year they've teamed up with Money Saving Expert guru Martin Lewis, to raise money to fight against hunger and poverty.

As the cost of living crisis is affecting people across the country, LadBaby, Martin Lewis, and some interesting collaborators released 'Food Aid' on 16th December.

Band Aid's iconic Christmas song ‘Do They Know It's Christmas?’ has been re-written with the help of Grammy winner Amy Wadge, along with the approval of Bob Geldof, Midge Ure and the Band Aid Trust.

Although they were recreating the classic track, they couldn't quite get the all-star line-up, but thankfully there were some somewhat convincing impersonators on hand to help! The video gathers together LadBaby's answer to the likes of Elton John, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Boy George and Stormzy for a festive sing-along.

To announce the song, Mark and Roxanne shared a video on YouTube revealing they would be working with Martin, and asking people to support them if they feel they can.

Speaking about their new song, Mark and Roxanne said: "We never intended to release a fifth Christmas single but as ambassadors of the Trussell Trust we were not prepared to sit back and do nothing in a year when people are struggling more than ever.

"The Trussell Trust, which supports more than 1,300 food bank centres, has told us that the cost of living emergency has created a ‘tsunami of need’, as people struggle to survive amidst the soaring costs of living. With need outstripping donations for the first time in its history, we need to help ensure that food banks keep going this winter."

They went on to say: "So, a few months ago we approached Bob Geldof and Midge Ure and the Band Aid Trust to ask permission to rework the most iconic Christmas track of all time ‘Do They Know it's Christmas’. And we were truly honoured when they said yes! So today we are announcing ‘Food Aid’ to raise as much money as we possibly can for the Trussell Trust and the Band Aid Trust."

Martin Lewis

Meanwhile, Martin, who's very popular website moneysavingexpert.com is packed full of tips and ideas for saving money said: "When Mark and Roxanne contacted me out-of-the-blue to ask if I’d join them in 'Food Aid' I thought they’d confused me with someone else.

"The nearest I’ve ever got to thinking about a Christmas Number 1 is going to the loo on Boxing Day after too much orange juice the day before. Yet once I knew they were serious, and it was for the Trussell Trust, a hugely important charity I’ve a history with, I decided to give it a go, and do it with gusto."

100% of profits from 'Food Aid' will be donated towards the fight against hunger and poverty. 50% will go to the Trussell Trust and 50% will be donated to the Band Aid Trust.

LadBaby have now broken records previously held by the Spice Girls and The Beatles for the most consecutive Christmas Number 1s. The duo first released 'We Built This City' in 2018, which was a cover of the 1985 hit by Starship, followed by 'I Love Sausage Rolls', 'Don't Stop Eatin'', and 'Sausage Rolls for Everyone', with Ed Sheeran and Elton John.
