Kings of Leon Score Fourth Consecutive Number One Album

The beat Drake and Jessie J to the summit

Kings of Leon have bagged their fourth consecutive UK no.1 album with Mechanical Bull’.

Boasting the huge single ‘Supersoaker’, the album sold 71,000 copies last week to take the chart crown.

The Tennessee rockers brushed aside competition from Drake’s ‘Nothing Was The Same’, which sold 61,000 copies to secure second spot, and Jessie J’s ‘Alive’ in third spot.

After two weeks at the chart summit, Arctic Monkeys’ ‘AM’ has slipped three places to fourth and Jason Derulo has debuted at number five with his latest effort ‘Tattoos’ – featuring the chart smash ‘Talk Dirty’.

Other new entries include Birdy’s ‘Fire Within’ at no.8 and Chvrches at nine with ‘The Bones of What You Believe’.

All five of Kings of Leon’s previous albums – from 2003’s ‘Youth and Young Manhood’ through to ‘Come Around Sundown’ – have achieved at least double platinum status in the UK.

2008’s ‘Only By The Night’ is nine times platinum having sold over 2.7million copies in the past half decade.
