Katy Perry named the top-earning female musician
Katy Perry has been named as the highest-earning female in music in Forbes magazine
According to Forbes magazine, Katy Perry is currently the top-earning female musician.
The US magazine has named the Roar singer as the highest-earning female in music, stating that between June 2014 and June 2015 she earned a whopping $135m (£87m).
Thanks to her recent Prismatic tour, which ran for 151 dates, Katy made an estimated $2m (£1.3m) per gig. The US singer's sponsorship deals with Covergirl, an American cosmetics brand; Claire's, the accessories store; and Coty, the company that produce Perry's seven fragrances, which include Purr, Meow and Killer Queen, have also contributed to her earnings this year.
Second on the list is Taylor Swift (who we're surprised doesn't top it), who, between June 2014 and June 2015, earned $80m (£51.9m). The Shake It Off singer has been busy taking her 1989 tour all over the world since the start of May.
Surprisingly, after a quieter presence on the music scene in the past year, Lady Gaga came in at number four on the list. Her earnings in the past year have largely come from sponsorship deals with Mac and Versace, as well as three gigs at The O2 back in 2014.
The top five list of Forbe's highest-earning females in music is as follows:
- Katy Perry (earned $135m) 2. Taylor Swift (earned $80m) 3. Fleetwood Mac (earned $59.5m) 4. Lady Gaga (earned $59m) 5. Beyoncé (earned $54.5m)
