'Impossible' is the 127th song to do so

James Arthur’s debut single ‘Impossible’ has smashed the 1million sales barrier.

Over the course of just five weeks, The X Factor winner’s version of the Shontelle track has become the 127th song in the UK to reach the impressive landmark.

Martin Talbot, the Official Charts Company’s Managing Director, said: "Hitting the million mark in around a month is a fantastic achievement for James Arthur. X Factor winners often score strong first week sales, but to push through to the million mark so quickly is truly impressive."

News of the feat comes just a day after ‘Impossible’ was nominated for the Best British Single gong at next month’s BRIT Awards.

As if that wasn’t enough, James has today penned a lucrative recording deal with Simon Cowell’s label Syco home to One Direction, Little Mix, Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle, Il Divo, Cher Lloyd and Labrinth.

James enthused: “I am thrilled to be part of the Syco family, working with Simon and his team is exactly where I want to be. I can't wait to get into the studio to start work on my record!”
