Gary Barlow says he would jump at the opportunity to write songs for X Factor winner Sam Bailey.

!Appearing on The Xtra Factor last night after his final appearance on the ITV talent show, Gary said Sam has the perfect voice for his songs.

Asked whether he’d join musical forces with Sam, Gary responded: "Oh, absolutely. I think the whole world will be looking at Sam right now as a great vehicle to be able perform their song with that kind of emotion and the kind of technical ability that she's got. It's incredible. I would be excited as a songwriter to write for her voice."

Sam, a 36-year-old former prison warder, received over 1million public votes to take the X Factor title ahead of Nicholas McDonald.

Her winner’s single, an emotionally rousing cover of Demi Lovato’s ‘Skyscraper’, is available to download now and is a firm favourite for the Christmas number one spot on Sunday.

Syco will donate 100% of its profits from the sales of each CD single (released on 18th December) and download to be shared equally by the charities Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and Together for Short Lives.

Gary confirmed in October that the 2013 series of The X Factor would be his last.

The 42-year-old pop icon is playing an extensive UK arena tour next March and April, and also plans to reunite with Take That in the studio to work on their seventh studio album.
