Emeli Sande Joins The Beatles In Record Books

'Our Version Of Events' continues to set records

Published 7th Jan 2013

Emeli Sandé has broken a new chart record with her debut album ‘Our Version Of Events’.

The biggest selling album of 2012 has stayed in the album chart top 10 for an unbroken run of 47 weeks – the longest consecutive stretch for a debut by a solo artist in UK chart history.

In fact, Emeli’s uninterrupted run is second overall only to The Beatles’ breakthrough record ‘Please Please Me’, which stayed in the top 10 for 62 successive weeks back in 1963.

Since going on sale eleven months ago, ‘Our Version Of Events’ has sold 1.43million copies in the UK alone.

It has also spawned the number two singles ‘Heaven’ and ‘Next To Me’ plus ‘Daddy’, ‘My Kind of Love’ and current release ‘Clown’.

Emeli kick starts her North American tour in Atlanta, Georgia before returning to the UK in March for a string of sold-out dates.
