Ellie Goulding and Robbie Williams were among the big winners at the Q Awards in London this afternoon.

!After a sensational past year that’s seen her score a Platinum selling album with ‘Halcyon’ and a chart-topping single in ‘Burn’, Ellie was named Best Solo Act at the lavish Grosvenor House Hotel ceremony.

The monthly music magazine awarded Robbie Williams one of the most prestigious honours of the day – the Q Idol for his services to music.

Other winners included Arctic Monkeys (Best Track for ‘Do I Wanna Know?’), Biffy Clyro (Best Album for ‘Opposites’), Jake Bugg (Best New Act), Vampire Weekend (Best Act In The World Today) and Glastonbury Festival (Best Event).

Commenting on this year’s awards, Q’s senior editor Matt Mason said: “It's been a privilege to celebrate another brilliant year for music.

“We keep being told that these are tough times for the industry, but the evidence here suggests the opposite. The artists honoured today reflect the variety and richness of the current musical landscape.”

The Q Awards ceremony was once again hosted by Al Murray and guest presenters included Tinie Tempah, Example, Wretch 32, Dizzee Rascal and Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood.
