When it comes to music videos, they come in all shapes and sizes, some are meaningful tributes, others are practically short films. However, Ariana Grande's music video for her latest single 'thank u, next' looks set to take inspiration from a teen favourite from 18 years ago!

Although the full music video has yet to drop, Ariana has been keeping her fans happy by teasing a number of photos to her socials. Starting with Twitter, she posted a black and white photo of herself wearing a cheerleading outfit.

Then, taking to her Instagram Stories she posted a number of photos and videos from both the upcoming music video and the original film. One post included a colour photo of Ariana with the song name written across it.

Ariana has also teased some inspirations from other teen movies including, Mean Girls and Legally Blonde. One Instagram post was captioned, 'yeah but she’s my FIRST cousin' sic, Referencing the Mean Girls scene where Karen attempts to justify her feelings for her cousin Seth!

Bring It On, starring Kirsten Dunst, was a big hit when it was released back in 2000, in fact it's even had FIVE sequels, the most recent being Bring It On: Worldwide Cheersmack, just last year.

Take a look at the best films from last year according to Empire:

20. The Lost City Of Z

2013's The Immigrant is sadly still waiting for a UK release, so praise be to the cinematic gods that James Gray's The Lost City Of Z arrived without delay. Based on the true-life tale of British explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), this dense but always gripping biopic is part political drama, part family drama and part adventure.
On discovering the remnants of an indigenous society, Fawcett spent his life trying to prove his Amazonian finds until his unexplained disappearance in 1925. Containing one of the most beautiful scenes of the year, this undseen gem deserves, nay, demands your attention.

'thank u, next' is a song about Ariana's past relationships and the lyrics mention a number of her ex-boyfriends including, Big Sean, Mac Miller and her ex-fiancé Pete Davidson. Here are some of the lyrics:

'Thought I’d end up with Sean

But he wasn’t a match

Wrote some songs about Ricky

Now I listen and laugh

Even almost got married

And for Pete I’m so thankful

Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm Miller

Cause he was an angel'

Now take a look at Ariana's transformation from teenage TV star to worldwide pop sensation:

Ariana dropped 'thank u, next' earlier this month and performed it live on The Ellen Show, when she almost tripped over! Despite that, she showed her true professionalism by recovering and continuing till the end of the song.

Her trip happens when she goes to step off a chair she has been dancing on. She stumbles and says, "oh my god!", before returning to the centre of the stage and continues with the song, whilst also laughing at her trip.
