Adele's '25' become fastest album to sell one million copies in the UK!

She continues to obliterate records

Published 30th Nov 2015

Just days after becoming the biggest selling UK number one album of all time, Adele’s all-conquering ‘25’ has obliterated yet another chart record.

The album, featuring the global smash ‘Hello’, has become the fastest album in UK chart history to hit the one million sales barrier taking just 10 days.

That’s a full week quicker than it took Oasis to hit the one million milestone with ‘Be Here Now’ way back in 1997.

Incredibly, ‘25’ is already the biggest selling album of 2015 overtaking Ed Sheeran’s ‘x’. With Christmas on the horizon that tally is set to rise higher and higher.

Last Friday (27th November), the unstoppable Adele scored the biggest ever number one with first week sales of 800,000.

Echoing this success in America, the album sold 3.38million copies in its first week Stateside – the largest single sales week for an album since they began tracking them in 1991.

Testament to Adele’s global superstardom, the record has topped the chart in dozens of countries including Australia, Belgium, France, Holland, Italy, Ireland, Norway, New Zealand and Sweden.

Certain to be ultra high in demand, Adele’s March 2016 UK arena tour goes on sale from Downtown Radio Tickets at 9am on Friday (4th December).
