The 2022 BAFTA nominations were announced today and Sir Kenneth Branagh's semi-autobiographical film on his childhood spent in Belfast was awarded six nominations 👏

Catriona Balfe, who plays ‘Ma’, will take on Jessie Buckley (The Lost Daughter), Ariana Debose (West Side Story), Ann Dowd (Mass), Aunjanue Ellis (King Richard) and Ruth Negga (Passing) in the Best Supporting Actress category.

Meanwhile Ciaran Hinds is also nominated in the Supporting Actor category, alongside Mike Faist (West Side Story), Troy Kotsur (Coda), Woody Norman (C'mon C'mon), Jesse Plemons (The Power Of The Dog) and Kodi Smit-Mcphee (The Power Of The Dog).

Sadly Jamie Dornan and Sir Kenneth Branagh missed out on individual nominations, but the film is still up for Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Original Screenplay, and Editing.

Australian actress Rebel Wilson will host the awards ceremony, celebrating its 75th anniversary, on Sunday 13th March, at London's Royal Albert Hall.

It won't be long until Hollywood's most glamorous event in the calendar, The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars. Nominations will be revealed on Tuesday 8th February, ahead of the red carpet celebration on Sunday 27 March.

We've got our fingers crossed 'our wee film' brings home the gold!
