Sadie Sink set to star alongside Tom Holland in upcoming Spider-Man film

Off the back of the final season of Stranger Things

Author: Georgie HollandPublished 13th Mar 2025

As the show that propelled Sadie Sink into stardom - Stranger Things - nears its end, with the fifth and final season set for release this year, fans of the talented actress may rejoice, as she is set to star in the highly-anticipated next instalment in the Spider-Man franchise. Deadline reports that Sadie has been lined-up to star alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya in the popular film.

With filming for the upcoming movie reportedly set to start later in 2025, a source told the publication that Sadie Sink will be joining the cast of the sequel from Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios - although the studios are yet to comment on the news.

No 'stranger' to an action packed role, Sadie is also known for her roles in the Fear Street horror films, as well her appearances in titles such as The Whale (alongside Brendan Fraser), Dear Zoe, the almighty Stranger Things and Taylor Swift's emotional short 'Taylor Swift: All Too Well' - made alongside the release of her 10-minute track.

Who will Sadie Sink play?

The last instalment in the Spider-Man series came in the form of Spider-Man: No Way Home in December 2021 - which, for fans of the series, was undeniably a pretty huge deal and marked the entrance into the Spider-Verse.

After months of rumours - and a sprinkling of applaudable denial from starring actor Andrew Garfield - the film brought together three generations of Spider-Man actors, in a Multiverse storyline that welcomed Tobey Maguire and Andrew himself.

As fans of the films will know, the movie's ending - which saw Peter Parker's identity erased from the world - lined up a pretty intense storyboard switch-up - hinting that Sadie's role could be a rather significant one, with former starring characters thought to potentially have slightly reduced roles.

Her role in the film, however, has not been confirmed, so when it comes to who she will play in the upcoming Spider-Man film, it's anyone's guess.

When will filming begin on the next Spider-Man film?

Another major update on the Spider-Man front came from Tom Holland himself back in October 2024, when he let slip that he and Zendaya had sat and read the script together - and that it's a movie "worthy of the fans' respect".

Revealing that they have a creative, a pitch and a draft, he told The Rich Roll podcast: "It needs work but the writers are doing a great job and I read it three weeks ago and it really lit a fire in me."

The actor soon added: "Zendaya and I sat down and read it together and we at times were like bouncing around the living room. Like this is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect, but there are a few things we need to figure out before we can get that really going. But it’s exciting and I’m really, really excited about it."

Tom Holland is currently filming for the upcoming Christopher Nolan film The Odyssey, which has an all-star cast including the likes of Matt Damon, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Elliot Page and Anne Hathaway. With filming still underway, it is thought production on Spider-Man will begin once The Odyssey has wrapped.
