Netflix set to make new Matilda film based on the hit musical
It's based on the 1996 film
It came out back in 1996, but Matilda is one of the most classic movies around! No matter what age you are, the movie, which stars the likes of Danny DeVito, Mara Wilson, Embeth Davidtz and Rhea Perlman, is still just as good to this day!
So, when we heard the new that streaming service Netflix are considering producing a 'Matilda Musical' based on the 1996 classic, we were over the moon.
The Hollywood Reporter is suggesting a movie adaptation of the popular Matilda stage show will be produced for UK cinemas, as well as landing on Netflix. The new adaptation is reportedly going to be directed by British director Matthew Warchus, with castings open now for children between the ages of 9 and 11.
Of course, the famous story of Matilda all started a a book by British novelist Roald Dahl, before being adapted into a movie in 1996.

The movie tells the story of a young girl called Matilda Wormwood who has the power of telekinesis. Despite being an incredibly bright girl, Matilda is forced to live with her distant parents, before her teacher Miss Honey realises the full extent of her amazing talents and chooses to adopt her.
Despite the news of the new Netflix adaptation, there's been no word about when it will arrive, or who will appear in the movie.
