In an emotional new interview ahead of tonight’s Dancing On Ice semi-final, Love Island’s Wes Nelson has broken down in tears while discussing his relationship with ex-girlfriend Megan Barton Hanson.

The pair announced their split earlier this year but in a clip that will air on tonight’s show, Wes opened up about his ‘bond’ with Megan and revealed he’s still not over their break-up.

“Me and Megs we had a really, really good bond and it makes me upset now to talk about it. It isn't great, and it was really, really difficult at the time,” he said.

Wes will skate to his parents’ wedding song ‘Never Too Much’ by Luther Vandross in the semi-final and shared his hope of having a relationship like theirs.

He added: “My mum and dad genuinely mean the absolute world to me. I can't even thank them enough for how much they've done for me. It's a big thank you to them really.

“I think my mum and dad completely personify the word 'love.’ Of course I've experienced love but I'd love to love like my parents do.”

Wes and Megan’s relationship broke down in the opening weeks of Dancing On Ice after she hit out at his skating partner Vanessa Bauer in a scathing Instagram post.

Although she didn’t respond to Megan’s rant, Vanessa recently revealed that she found all of the drama hard to deal with.

Speaking to Now magazine, she said: “It’s something I’ve tried to keep away from and not comment on. But of course it affects me. I read comments and I get DMs on Instagram which are really not nice, it was really hard to deal with but it’s not my job to comment on that.”

Wes and Vanessa will be looking to put the drama behind them tonight as they compete for a place in next week’s Dancing On Ice final.

Dancing On Ice 2019 continues tonight (3 March) at 6pm on ITV.
