After taking a number of months off to recover from breaking his back in a number of places, which involved missing the Britain's Got Talent live shows, music mogul Simon Cowell has now been photographed looking well for the first time since the accident.

As Simon celebrated his 61st birthday last week (7th October), he was joined by a small number of his close friends and family, including his ex Terri Seymour who filmed him blowing out the candles on his birthday cake.

The video shows Simon sitting at a table next to his partner Lauren Silverman, as his six-year-old son Eric excitedly sings Happy Birthday to his dad whilst his birthday cake is brought through.

Simon was rushed to hospital over in America back in August, after falling off his electric bike whilst testing it out in his Malibu home.

After undergoing a six-hour surgery, Simon took to his Twitter page to update his fan base.

He wrote, 'Some good advice... If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time.I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.'

Simon then went on to thank all of the professionals who have been caring for him in hospital, adding, 'And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone. Simon.' (sic)

Despite a few people wondering if Simon would take part in this year's Britain's Got Talent via a video link, the 61-year-old was advised by doctors to rest, with ITV hiring former winner Ashley Banjo to replace him for the live shows.

Although Ashley was loved by viewers, it's understood that Simon will make a return to BGT for the 2021 series.
