Olivia Colman debuts incredible platinum blonde hairdo at the Oscars

She looks AMAZING

Published 10th Feb 2020

The Oscars 2020 gave us a huge beauty surprise when it came to Olivia Colman – she went platinum blonde. You'd be forgiven for assuming that Olivia Colman, though we love her dearly, is one of those Brit-turned-Hollywood actresses that is likely to perpetually play it safe on the red carpet when it comes to beauty.

A bit of nude lip gloss here, a sweep of a shimmery brown eye shadow there. Maybe a touch of liner at a push. But no. This lady proved us all monumentally wrong when she rocked up to the Oscars 2020 red carpet on Sunday night.

As whisperings abounded among the press that Olivia Colman was about assume her position in front of their flashlights, the paps got ready for a cursory snap or too as one of our most-loved representatives from old Blighty beamed into the lens, but as she stepped onto the red carpet, a short intake of breath rippled through the crowds as everyone laid their widened eyes on her brand new hair do.

This lady, our latest Queen in The Crown, had gone from her natural brunette, to gosh-darned platinum blonde. In the words of Jonathan Van Ness...'Can you believe?'

The look, paired with her ultra-short pixie crop is edgy and eye-catching. Is it for a role, was it done on a whim? It's unclear – as yet. But we're here for it. Olivia Colman has officially served up that tit-bit of Oscars 2020 beauty drama that we've been waiting for and we can't thank her enough. Bravo! Long may the beauty experimentation continue.
