Olly Murs admits he wants to 'make a change' with estranged twin brother
Olly hasn't spoken to his brother for over 10 years
Earlier this year, pop star Olly Murs broke down during an episode of The Voice UK whilst opening up about his broken relationship with his estranged twin brother Ben. After receiving a tonne of support from fans after the episode aired, Olly has now thanked them for their support.
The brothers haven't spoken in over 10 years after Olly couldn't make Ben's wedding due to filming for The X Factor, and as shown on The Voice, the pain certainly still gets to him.
Speaking to The Daily Record in a recent interview, Olly told the publication he was overwhelmed by the support of fans after he opened up on The Voice. He said, "It was probably the one time I've been on to Twitter and it was actually nice. There was some positive stuff being written on there. The support was overwhelming if I'm honest.
"Throughout the last ten years with my brother I've shown that emotion to myself but not to other people, so hopefully it was a positive thing. A lot of people were reaching out to me that have had relatives that they don't speak to anymore, brothers or sisters or family members, and they said, 'I'm in the same position and seeing you tonight has made me realise I need to make a change'."
Olly then added, "I still want to make that change with my brother."
It was back in January when Olly opened up to Tom Jones, will.i.am, and Meghan Trainor on the ITV show, after seeing two twins audition.
When fellow judge will.i.am asked Olly what his brother looks like, the 35-year-old told him, "We haven't spoken for ten years. We had a big argument. I was on X Factor and I couldn’t make his wedding because I was on the show."
Getting emotional, Olly continued, "I feel like the next time I am going to see him is going to be at the worst place to see someone. It will be at someone's funeral that we lose in the family. I don't want that to be the case.
"It brings back memories when I see twins. When we were kids we used to sing all the time."
After seeing Olly get upset, Sir Tom Jones told the 35-year-old, "I understand what you're feeling, but you will do it - you'll get back together."
Meanwhile, in other Olly Murs news, as well as undergoing a massive body transformation in recent weeks, the singer is also smitten with his new girlfriend Amelia Tank, recently enjoying a holiday with her.
Speaking to the Loose Women ladies last week, Olly gushed about Amelia, saying, "We've only been together a short while but, especially with everything that’s been happening over the last couple of weeks, you really see a different side to someone."
