News broke yesterday (29th May) that Game Of Thrones legend Kit Harington had checked himself into rehab over a month ago, after being ‘hit really hard’ by the end of the popular show. A source has now revealed that the star 'takes pride’ in his decision to check himself into the wellness retreat.

A source revealed to PageSix that Kit has 'nothing but pride for his decision', and continued, ‘If seeing Kit get help can help anyone struggling, that’s fantastic. There’s no shame at all to this.’

According to the source, Kit, who starred as Jon Snow AKA Aegon Targaryen throughout GOT for eight years, hopes that his actions may encourage others who are battling personal issues to seek professional help.

PageSix reported that Kit took the ending of the franchise very hard, and that he apparently "turned to alcohol". The actor is now being treated for stress, and although he was present for the Game of Thrones premiere in Belfast on 12th April, the publication have reported that he entered the retreat nearly a month ago.

The star's wife Rose Leslie, who is reportedly remaining in the UK for the time being, is said to be ‘extremely supportive’ of his decision and is expected to see him soon.

The 32-year-old had previously spoken out about personal battles, saying to Variety, "My darkest period was when the show seemed to become so much about Jon."

He continued, "When you become the cliffhanger of a TV show, and a TV show probably at the height of its power, the focus on you is terrifying."
