Former X Factor contestant Katie Waissel has bravely shared an update on her health after being rushed to hospital following a suspected heart attack earlier this month.

The singer, who has been resting at home recovering from the ordeal, has taken to Instagram to share a photo of herself wearing a Holter Monitor, a device that keeps track of your heart rhythm.

She captioned the post: 'Currently wearing the Holter Monitor as part of my on going cardiac testing. I will be wearing this device for 48 hours as it records my heart activity.

'Other testing follows this week, but emotionally I am taking them just one test at a time.

'Please do know that albeit this is a personal medical issue, I have listened and onboarded so compassionately to your questions and concerns relating to potential causes etc. I want you to know that I absolutely intend to share my findings with you and hope to either give you clarity or peace of mind, to those that are seeking it.'

Katie, who also took part in Celebrity Big Brother in 2016, added: 'Until then, we must try to onboard an objective mindset and focus on staying healthy, safe and warm.

'I appreciate you all so greatly, and thank you for kindly embracing this discovery process with me.'

Katie was taken to Watford General Hospital in an ambulance earlier this month after showing some worrying symptoms.

In a post on Instagram, Katie said that despite being warned of long wait times, there was a medical team at the door of her North London home “within minutes”.

During her hospital stay, Katie shared a photo of herself from her hospital bed and praised the NHS: 'Let me tell you, I was taken by ambulance yesterday for a suspected heart attack and @nhs @ldn_ambulance Watford general AND the ambulance services were/are amazing.

'I was initially told there was a wait by the ambulance call centre, but an ambulance was at my door within minutes.

'The entire team at Watford were/are beyond impeccable, and I am so grateful for your continued help!'

Katie appeared on series seven of The X Factor, where she made it to the quarter final in Cheryl's group. She later went on to appear on Celebrity Big Brother alongside the likes of Ricky Norwood, Lewis Bloor and Christopher Biggins.
