2018 was a wonderful year for former TOWIE star Kate Wright, with her boyfriend Rio Ferdinand proposing to her on a rooftop in Abu Dhabi. But behind all of that, it appears Kate was suffering a secret anxiety battle, which she has now chosen to share online.

Sharing a word image with her 963K Instagram followers which read, 'I am obsessed with becoming a woman comfortable in her skin', Kate wrote, '2019 goals 🙌🏼One of my New Years resolutions is to accept myself, something I struggle with.

'Anyone that knows me well knows I suffer with bad anxiety & really struggle to love myself. Most days are a battle with what’s going on in my head. I’ve sort of kept this off social media as I’ve been to scared to share it, and the less I shared the more distant instagram is from my daily life ... that’s going to change this year. I’m going to give more of the ups and downs, not just the fun times.'

She then continued, 'This year I will not let society’s views on who I should be and what I should look like effect me. I have been so busy making sure everyone else if ok that I have forgot about looking after myself properly .... This year I am working on me; mind, body, soul❤️ #selflove' sic

Fans of the reality star were quick to respond to her brave message, with many praising her for her honesty.

One user wrote, 'We need more women like you @xkatiewright bravo 👏🏼 💕 you’re beautiful', with another adding, 'This is almost like I’ve written it...... you are not alone and you give people like me the confidence to be better within themselves also! #Inspire #Goals #ThankYou #HonestyIsTheBestPolicy.' sic

A third then added, 'I suffer from anxiety but mine got worst after child birth. Good for you Katie I think your an inspiration to women and beautiful inside and out even though I don’t know you. Well done being real ❤️'. sic

Join Bauer Media's Where's Your Head At campaign to help improve the mental health of the nation by ensuring employers look after the wellbeing of their workforce.

We all have mental health – In just the same way as we each have a physical fitness. Evidence also shows that the earlier a mental health issue - like stress, anxiety or depression - is detected the easier it is to manage and treat. We want to make it easy for you to talk about your mental health at work & ensure that there are trained colleagues on site who know how to point you in the direction of any help you might need.

We’ve delivered our petition to Downing Street calling for the law to be changed and are pleased to announce that mental health first aid in the workplace will be debated in the House of Commons Wednesday 19th December 2019.
