It's safe to say it was an eventful start to the week, with April Fool's Day 2019 landing on a Monday, most of us got to cure our Monday blues with a little giggle. If it wasn't Phillip Schofield pranking Holly Willoughby making us laugh, we certainly got a kick out of Cadbury Creme Egg-flavoured mayo.

There's more to be said, however, for Justin Bieber's fans, as the star's April Fool, which he posted on Instagram, was branded 'insensitive' and 'hurtful'. And now, JB has taken to Instagram to apologise to his fans, saying that he will 'take responsibility' and 'say sorry'.

The 25-year-old shared a screenshot of an article concerning his joke, writing, 'There’s always gonna be people offended, there’s also people who don’t take jokes very well, I am a prankster and it was APRIL FOOLS. I didn’t at all mean to be insensitive to people who can’t have children. A lot of people I know, their first go to prank on April fools is telling their parents they are pregnant to get a big reaction. But I will apologize anyway and take responsibility and say sorry to people who were offended. I truly don’t want anyone to be hurt by a prank.. it’s like when I shoved cake in my little sisters face for her birthday expecting her to laugh but she cried. You sometimes just don’t know what will hurt someone’s feelings not to compare pregnancy with cake in the face but it’s just to paint the picture of not knowing what will offend. Some might have laughed but some were offended .. I think With pranks u sometimes have to roll that dice. #prankster #dennisthemenace #sorry #truly' sic.

Fans were still eager to tell JB exactly how they felt, with one commenting, 'It won’t be super funny if or when you find out your new wife is infertile. It’s not offensive, it’s just stupid ignorance. You don’t have to explain yourself to people, Bieber, you can easily avoid that by not being an idiot.' sic, and another writing, '@justinbieber it sounds like you’re apologizing but not because you want to; but bc you were forced to. As someone with idiopathic infertility...you lost an OG fan right here #unfollowed' sic.

Many, however, were quick to support Justin, with one saying, 'People will ALWAYS criticize 🤷🏻‍♂️ so keep rolling 🎲 🎲' sic, and another writing, 'Always Dennis the menace so the pranks are the best part. @justinbieber I so respect and love your care for the hearts of those who follow you. You’re a real 💎.' sic

In case you missed it, Justin posted a photo of a baby scan to his Instagram page on Monday night (1st April), and fans were convinced his wife Hailey Baldwin was expecting the couple's first child. Following the image up with a snap of his supermodel wife in a hospital bed, fans were certain that this was no joke.

It wasn't until the 'Love Yourself' singer shared an image of another baby scan, this time with a puppy visible, that fans began to realise it was all a prank. He captioned the image, 'Wait omg is that a,,, APRIL FOOLS'. sic

Angered by the prank, fans immediately jumped into the comments section branding Justin 'insensitive, 'foolish' and 'immature', with one commenting, 'PREGNANCY IS NOT AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE!' sic.
