The X Factor: Celebrity's Jenny Ryan reveals how singing helped her with depression
The Chase star suffered with depression as a teenager
Last updated 23rd Oct 2019
After her incredible rendition of Queen anthem 'Somebody To Love', The Chase star Jenny Ryan had the backing of viewers when Nicole Scherzinger chose to send her home during last weekend's episode of The X Factor: Celebrity.
Despite initially being sent home in favour of Ricki Lake, Vinnie Jones and Martin Bashir, ITV bosses made the decision to bring Jenny back for the live shows, after a tonne of complaints by viewers.
Now, ahead of the first live show on Saturday 26th October, Jenny has spoken to our friends at heat Magazine, where she's revealed singing helped her when she was struggling with depression when she was younger.
The 37-year-old said, "I’ve always enjoyed singing as a hobby and an antidepressant. I started to sing a lot more during my twenties when I was struggling with depression. I think it should available on prescription, really."
Despite being a phenomenal singer, it sounds like Jenny won't be giving up her day-job on The Chase, even if she won the show and landed a record deal.
She told heat Magazine, "I don’t think I would. Quizzing is my life. I think it would be something I would do alongside can do it, If Bradley Walsh can do it, I can do it. He is a man of many talents – I’ll just learn from his example."
You can read Jenny's full interview in this week's heat Magazine - out now.
After bosses brought her back following the backlash, Jenny will take to the stage during the first live show of the series on Saturday night, alongside the rest of the celeb contestants, including Kevin McHale and former Coronation Street actress Victoria Ekanoye.
