Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd shares update on his recent hair transplant
Jack considered giving up acting after losing his hair
Back in January, popular Coronation Street actor Jack P Shepherd, who is known for playing the role of David Platt, revealed the results of a hair transplant to his followers on Instagram after losing his hair due to 'on screen pressures and insomnia'.
Now, nine months on from the transplant, Jack has posted another update about his hair, alongside a candid message where he revealed he considered giving up acting after his hair loss affected his mental health.
Sharing a number of before and after photos, Jack wrote, '9 months it’s been since I had my hair transplant, this is the first time I’ve compared pictures to what I used to look like. I decided to get it done as it was affecting my mental health. To the point where I considered giving up acting and not being in the public eye. Thank you so much @asimshahmalak and everyone at Crown Clinic #hairtransplant #fuetransplant ❤'. sic
Fans and friends of the soap actor were quick to comment on Jack's post. Jack's co-star Alan Halsall wrote, 'Looks brilliant mate 👏 and it helps so many people who feel just like you did, just letting them know they have options! 🙌'.
Brooke Vincent then added, '2 Days Later “DARLING .. YOUR HAIR LOOKS AMAZING!!!” Hahahahaha 😩😂'. [sic[
A fan then wrote, 'Amazing, glad it’s made you feel happier x', with another adding, 'Love your honesty bro to get it done, I would of done same 👊'. sic
Jack first revealed he'd undergone a hair transplant in January this year, posting a photo at the Crown Clinic in Manchester. He wrote, 'Thanks to @AsimShahmalak and the team at Crown Clinic in Manchester for my hair transplant. Service was second to none and I am happy to be sharing my story today. Highly recommended'. sic
According to the Mirror, Jack had been noticing his hair loss for a while before the transplant. He told them at the time, "I could see the difference when I watched myself on screen and when I was travelling in a lift and the mirror would highlight my hair loss."
The actor continued, "A few of the make-up girls at Corrie suggested that I should have it done and I have talked it through with a few people at work.
"My hair loss has definitely accelerated in the last year. I have had a few personal issues off-screen which have been stressful and I am also an insomniac which just adds to my stress levels."
Hair transplants are a fairly common procedure, last year, former Westlife singer and Dancing On Ice contestant Brian McFadden revealed he had a successful hair transplant, admitting it made him feel 'self conscious'.
