Eamonn Holmes announces he will be leaving Sky News Sunrise after 11 years
He made the announcement on social media.
The Belfast-born journalist posted the announcement on his Facebook page saying, "Anchoring my own breakfast show for 11 years has been for me the stuff of boyhood dreams. It was the job I hoped to do as a young Belfast lad - and because of Sky News I got there!"
He went on to explain how he is very fortunate with the number of projects he has been offered and he would like some time to concentrate on them, namely "a number of documentary projects which I have been stalling for some time".
Eamonn has been waking up the UK for 11 years now on Sky News Sunrise, having worked his way up the ranks at various TV channels after studying journalism at the Dublin College of Business Studies in the late 70s.
There is no mention of when Eamonn will be leaving the programme, but it's clear he will be missed by many. He ends his statement saying, "To those who have worked or woken up with me on Sky News over the years - thank you. I hope you appreciated that I tried to do it differently."
