16-year-old Gogglebox star Amy Tapper bullied by online trolls

The 16-year-old has received online abuse

Published 9th Jun 2016

Viewers of hit show Gogglebox have come to love the Tapper family since it aired back in 2013 but now 16-year-old daughter Amy has received some cruel online abuse regarding her weight.

Amy’s fellow cast member, Viv Woerdenweber, hit headlines recently for her weight loss but it turns out cruel Twitter trolls used Viv’s transformation to target poor Amy about her own weight, as well as putting her down throughout the whole series.

Cruel trolls compared Amy to fictional movie characters with some even saying they are ‘concerned’ for the 16-year-old.

Despite the criticism, Amy recently opened up about her weight during an episode of the show. She said “Even though being big is unhealthy, just as being too thin is unhealthy, it is portrayed a bad thing. Fat is a way to describe someone, slim is a way to describe someone, pretty is a way to describe someone but the word ‘fat’ is used as an insult.”
