As restrictions start to relax and life resembles something close to 'normal' for many the pain from the pandemic is still a concern.

With illness, unemployment and incomes slashed, many families across Northern Ireland were plunged into poverty.

That's why it's so important today that we come together and try to make a difference!

Cash for Kids Day in partnership with Ulster Bank want to help communities through these challenging times.

Cash for Kids will grant 100% of everything you donate to families with children to cover essentials like food and warm clothing.

Local charities across the country got in touch, to share why they believe Cash for Kids is such an important cause.

Gail Redmond from Via Wings shared this kind message:

“Cash for Kids supporting us, has allowed us to change of lives of so many children. It’s not just at Christmas, they give us a sum of money at the start of the year to help with food poverty. There are children in this time, that are living in homes that are cold, lack of food, isolation, deprivation, loneliness and brokenness. Cash for Kids give support to organisations like Via Wings, that make a difference to this country that we live in.”

Michelle James from Barnardo's:

“Some families have had to choose between heating their house and feeding their children. The Cash for Kids grants made a huge difference, getting access to cash quickly was essential. When you need to feed your family, you need to do it now, you can’t wait until a system pushes the buttons. We helped families’ fund things like food, fuel and data, a lot of those things we take for granted. Every donation, big or small will go a long way to helping organisations like Barnardo's that support children and young people.”

Lisa Grimason from Edenbrook Prmary School:

“The Cash for Kids project enabled us to widen our scope of families that needed help at a very challenging and expensive time. We were able to support between 40 and 50 families, who through no fault of their own had lost their job or fallen on hard times. You don’t have to think about it, just make the donation - even if it just changes one day for a family, you’re making such a difference.”
