Northern Ireland's most popular names: Urban Dictionary Trend

What does your name mean? 🤣

Published 24th Nov 2021

You might have spotted a few familiar names popping up on social media recently, but what on earth is this bizarre new trend?

People have been amusing themselves with the definitions for their names, as defined on Urban Dictionary.

For those that need to know…Urban Dictionary has been entertaining millennials since the late '90s with its gritty, online glossary originally created to explain slang terms.

The entries are not what you would find in a standard dictionary, they are often submitted by anyone and vetted by volunteer editors. Most of the meanings seem to be quite complimentary.

With everyone searching for the meaning of their names and sharing them on Instagram and Twitter, we thought it would be fun to do some research ourselves.

A recent study published by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency revealed that James and Grace were the top names in 2020 here in Northern Ireland.
