Women's Euro 2022: boost for Northern Ireland ahead of Austria game
Northern Ireland will have influential skipper Marissa Callaghan available for their second Euros Group A match tonight (Monday) against Austria.
The midfielder, who had been recovering from a toe injury coming into the tournament, declared herself fit to to start in Southampton after coming on as a sub in the opening defeat to Norway.
Callaghan said she was ready to start, if picked.
"I am feeling very good," she said. "Obviously stepping onto a pitch for Northern Ireland is an absolute honour so I was delighted to get the call at half-time and help the team out.
"At the minute we don't know what the starting 11 is but whoever the starting 11 is will be ready for the challenge."
Northern Ireland will play hosts, England, on Friday and Kenny Shiels says he would love a result in both games.
"Austria is a big fish - also we have to make sure we compete against them and I would be really happy if we do well against Austria and do well against England," Shiels said
"It would really make the tournament for us."
