'We will beat Linfield' Haveron prediction as Big Two prepare for clash at Windsor
Spotlight on Glens boss in next Danske Bank Premiership show
Last updated 8th Sep 2017
Another week, another new Cool FM Danske Bank Premiership show …
And what a week it has been, with Coleraine extending their unbeaten run to go top of the table while Linfield and Crusaders were in Scotland extending their stay in the Irn Bru Cup.
Then there was Northern Ireland and the history-making five wins on the bounce to seal second spot in their World Cup qualifying Group C.
Local football really is on the up and up.
Last Friday night we introduced you to our brand new football show in association with NIFL which we aired on Cool FM’s Facebook.
David Healy was our special guest for the opener – and he did not disappoint.
The Linfield boss was on sparkling form as he entertained the panel with tales from his illustrious past both in domestic and international football and his forthright views on the game.
This week, for our second show, we thought it only right to invite Gary Haveron, the manager of the other half of the league’s so-called Big Two, Glentoran – ahead of their first derby clash of the season.
A year after taking over at the Oval, Haveron is now starting to see the fruits of his labour with the Glens having had an excellent start to this campaign.
And sitting pretty in third spot, Haveron tells us how there is a lot more to come from his young side.
Indeed, he tells us how he believes the Glens will beat the Blues tomorrow at Windsor Park, such is the confidence throughout the camp.
It’s a view, however, not universally shared … and you can find out why tonight.
Joining him on the panel is Irish League legend, Roy Walker, who managed the Ballymena side (2008-11) which Haveron captained.
‘The Boss’ as his protégé refers to him throughout, has been there and done it all but his passion for the game has never waned - as you will see later.
Meanwhile, pinging the questions is Cool FM presenter Pete Snodden while Steven Beacom, one of Northern Ireland’s top football journalists, pulls no punches in his analysis of the current game.
