Ulster 36-15 Glasgow

Nick Timoney scored a try at the death to secure a bonus point victory over Glasgow that keeps alive Ulster’s faint hopes of a place in the PRO14 playoffs.

John Cooney had opened the scoring with a 5th minute penalty, and he then sniped in under the posts for the first try with 12 minutes played to lay the foundation for a simple conversion.

Finn Russell knocked over an 18th minute penalty in reply before Callum Gibbins collected a pass and strolled through to score Glasgow’s first try.

Cooney slotted another two penalties towards the end of the first period to send Ulster in at the break holding onto a 16-10 lead.

Glasgow responded after the interval with Gibbins touching down again after good work by the forwards, but Ulster’s Nick Timoney finished well in the corner in the 55th minute to expand their lead.

With an hour played that lead was further extended as Sean Reidy barged over from close range to round off another flowing move, and Johnny McPhillips then kicked over a 69th minute penalty to keep the scoreboard moving.

It wasn’t until the final action of the match that Ulster were able to secure the bonus point, with Timoney finishing powerfully in the corner.
