Ulster 16-17 Edinburgh

Duncan Weir scored a last-second drop goal as Edinburgh beat Ulster 17-16 in the PRO14 at Kingspan Stadium.

Ulster were ahead for long periods of the game, and had taken the lead in the 9th minute, breaking the deadlock with the opening try.

John Cooney finished near the posts to round off a smart move put together by Nick Timoney and Louis Ludik.

Edinburgh always looked dangerous though, and the warning signs were there as Viliame Mata knocked on as he stretched for the line directly under the sticks with half an hour played.

The Scots deservedly pulled back a try in impressive style just 5 minutes later.

Sam Hidalgo-Clyne broke on the halfway line before chipping ahead for Jason Harries to outpace Tommy Bowe and score in the corner.

2 Cooney penalties in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half put Ulster into a 13-7 lead, but the visitors crept ahead in the 64th minute when lock Lewis Carmichael crossed from close range.

3 more points from Cooney's boot then nudged the home side into a 16-14 lead.

It looked like Ulster had just about done enough before Weir bought himself the space to drop the decisive goal in the final moment of the match.
