Dungannon Swifts are into the quarter-finals of the Irish Cup.

Kris Lindsay’s side beat his old club Glenavon 1-0 at Mourneview Park last night – to set up a last-eight tie with Ballinamallard who saw off Carrick by a similar scoreline.

Speaking on the club’s Twitter feed, Lindsay says his players deserve all the praise after what has been a superb recent run.

“I am absolutely delighted,” he said.

“They have kept another clean sheet. That is two in a row.

“From back to front we were excellent.

“We defended really really well and we took our chance when it came along and we move into the next round of the Irish Cup.”

Paul McElroy (main pic) grabbed the only goal of the game from the penalty spot.

Elsewhere, Warrenpoint reached the quarter finals after a 2-0 win over Championship side, Queen’s.

They now face the lowest ranked side left in the tournament, Larne Tech Old Boys.

The pick of the last eight, though, sees Crusaders take on Ballymena United (see below) who beat Portadown 4-1 last night.
