Six-y Mallards the star attraction in a goal-den night of league drama
Glenavon held by Point at Mourneview
It was a night of goals, goals, goals in the Danske Bank Premiership with an incredible 16 strikes in just two games.
Bottom side Ballinamallard were the star attraction – picking up only their second win this season with a superb 6-4 win over Cliftonville.
And in the other match (pictured) at Mourneview Park, Glenavon’s bid to close the gap at the top of the table was curtailed somewhat when they were held 3-3 by Warrenpoint.
The remainder of this week’s Danske Bank Premiership games takes place later with the pick of the ties at the Oval where Glentoran take on title hopefuls Coleraine.
The Bannsiders have already had a season to remember – they are currently in the runners-up spot just a point behind Crusaders.
A win over the Glens is pretty much vital if they are to keep in the title race – with the Crues flying at the minute and in the running for an unprecedented five trophies this year.
But Gary Haveron’s side will not make it easy.
They are chasing an all-important sixth spot in the table before the league splits.
But it should be a mere formality for the Crues.
Stephen Baxter has instilled a winning mentality in his team and they have looked unstoppable in the last couple of months – recently picking up the County Antrim Shield after a 4-2 win over Ballymena.
David Jeffrey’s side take on Linfield later at the Showgrounds while Dungannon Swifts entertain Ards.
As usual all of the games kick off at 3pm
