McIlroy not competing in Irish Open
Holywood superstar will concentrate on Majors
Rory McIlroy is set to miss the Irish Open – to concentrate on the Majors.
The World Number 8 wants to focus on the Open Championship which will held at Royal Portrush in July.
McIlroy, who is taking part this week in the WGC Mexico Championship at the Club de Golf Chapultepec, said he wanted to give himself the best chance to win the Open which is being held in Northern Ireland for the first time since 1951.
He has confirmed, though, that he will maintain his European Tour membership this season.
The 29-year-old is determined to win his first Major title since 2014.
And if he wins the Masters in April, he will become only the sixth player to complete a career grand slam.
