McIlroy makes decent start to PGA tournament
Holywood man four shots off lead
Rory McIlroy seems to have rediscovered some of his old form.
The Holywood superstar who has dropped to third in the world rankings after a disappointing year to date, is currently four shots off the lead at the latest PGA tournament in Connecticut.
McIlroy is three under par with former world number one Jordan Spieth leading the way.
He said it would have been good to have played this tournament first before last week’s US Open where he bowed early – missing the cut.
“If we were able to flip flop these tournaments then this would have been the first week and the US open the second – I probably would have been a bit more comfortable,” he said.
“I only made four birdies today but it felt like I could have made eight or nine.
