Lift-off for Newry in the battle for survival in the Danke Bank Prem
Darren Mullen's side go above Ards afrter 3-0 win at Showgrounds
Newry City climbed off the bottom of the Dankse Bank Premiership table with a 3-0 win over Ards at the Showgrounds last night (Friday).
It was a superb performance by Darren Mullen's side in a match billed as a proverbial survival six-pointer.
Goals from Stephen Hughes, Mark McCabe and Tiarnan Rushe now means Newry are a point ahead of their rivals.
It was their first win since November and keeps alive their hopes of staying in the premiership - with just four games left in the season.
Mullen was full of praise for every player after the game.
He is hoping victory will give them a momentum in the vital run-up to the end of the campaign.
