Glentoran ease to 4-0 win over Institute
Glentoran recorded their third consecutive win as they made light work of Institute in a 4-0 victory at the Oval.
In a lively opening spell, the home side almost took an early lead through Elvio Van Overbeek.
The Dutchman met David McDaid’s 7th minute cross with a towering header, but Paul Wells tipped it around the post at full stretch.
It was a sign of things to come, as the first goal came just 2 minutes later.
Van Overbeek recorded another assist for his new club, curling in a superb cross that was turned into the net by Gavin Peers.
By the 18th minute the Glens were sailing as summer arrival Hrvoje Plum casually stroked a 25-yard free kick into the top corner, almost a carbon copy of his strike against Coleraine.
The third came after an assist from Croatian midfielder Plum 11 minutes into the second half.
He drilled a freekick into the box from close to the halfway line and Robbie McDaid got just enough of a touch to divert it past the keeper from close range.
Antonio Duric then stepped off the bench to mark his first appearance for the club with a goal as he scored a free header from Mal Smith's 87th minute corner. to complete the rout.
