The Belfast Giants cruised to an 8-2 win on Friday night at the SSE Arena against visiting Sheffield Steelers.

Scott Conway opened the scoring for the home side early on, before Steve Owre made it two on the power-play.

Brett Neuman pulled one back for the visitors, before quick-fire Mark Cooper and Mark Foley scored to make it 4-1 by the end of the first period.

Sean Norris made it five, before Owre scored again.

Brendan Connolly scored a consolation for Sheffield, before Cooper and Sean Norris rounded off the scoring.

Should Guildford lose in Dundee and the Giants beat Manchester on Saturday night, the SSE Arena side will be champions.
