GAA: Ulster SFC ready to throw-in for 2023

It's Ulster Senior Football Championship time again!

The race for the Anglo-Celt Cup begins later today as Armagh and Antrim are the first two counties to takes to the pitch in what promises to be another exciting campaign.

That pair meet at Armagh's Athletic Grounds at 5pm in the Preliminary Round, with the winners take on Cavan away in the quarter-finals, with Kieran McGeeney's men favourites to come through the opening day encounter.

While they did suffer a disappointing relegation from Division 1 of the National League, Andy McEntee's Antrim could only manage sixth place in Division 3.

After that, it's two games per weekend for the next three weeks.

Reigning Ulster champions Derry will aim to get their defence of the trophy off to the strongest start with victory away to Fermanagh on Saturday April 15th, before two of the heavewights of Ulster footbal - Tyrone andMonaghan - meet at Healy Park the following day.

The following weekend sees that clash of Cavan versus the winners of Armagh and Antrim on April 22nd, before Conor Laverty's Down look to take advantage of Donegal side in disarray at Pairc Esler the following afternoon.

Donegal boss Paddy Carr resigned from the post after a short period in charge after rumours of player revolt. That will only serve to heighten the atmosphere at a packed out Newry in a fortnight's time.
