Jonny Evans’ future could be decided this week.

It is understood Leicester are favourites to sign the West Brom captain who is keen to stay in the Premiership after the Baggies were relegated a few weeks ago.

Claude Puel is believed to be a huge fan of the Northern Ireland defender who will cost somewhere in the region of £4m.

Leicester had bids turned down in the last couple of transfer windows. Should the Foxes fail again to land the 30-year-old again, Newcastle and Everton are ready to pounce for his signature.

Paddy McNair

Meanwhile, speculation continues over the future of fellow international Paddy McNair.

The midfielder has been on top form since recently returning from a long injury lay-off.

But his domestic club, Sunderland, were relegated to League One.

Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill said recently that the 23-year-old should be playing at a higher level.

“If Paddy plays another season at Sunderland it’s not going to be the end of the world – the most important thing is that Paddy gets a good run of games injury free,” he said.

“Is he better than League One? Of course he is – he’s miles better.”
