FOOTBALL: Referee Robinson banned for two matches
Irish League Referee Jamie Robinson has been given a two-match ban for unsporting conduct.
It comes following an incident with Crusaders manager Stephen Baxter at a game in January, where Glentoran beat the Crues 2-1 at Seaview.
Baxter was dismissed by Robinson and was himself hand a four-game ban, but that has now been reduced to two games.
Robinson was cleared of a charge of bringing the game into disrepute, but was found guilty of Article 18.20 in the Irish Football Association's code of conduct, which reads: "A match official who is reported for misconduct or reported for unsporting conduct towards a player, official or any other person may be suspended by the Committee in accordance with this Code."
Baxter was initially given a two-game ban for his dismissal before being hit with a further four-match suspension for 'unsporting conduct towards a match official' and fined ÂŁ100.
However, Crusaders opted to challenge that charge and his ban was reduced from four games to two. It means Baxter will now not be on the sideline for the Crues' upcoming Danske Bank Premiership matches against Ballymena United and Warrenpoint Town.
The suspensions for both Robinson and Baxter begin on Monday.
